Why I’m Never Broke” – Pastor Reveals Secret That Involves Your SalaryFounder of Salvation Ministries, Pastor David Ibiyeomie, has encouraged Christians to ensure their offerings exceed their tithes, declaring it a vital key to financial prosperity.
Addressing his congregation, Pastor Ibiyeomie described tithing—10% of one’s income—as the foundational covenant for divine wealth. He stressed the importance of making it a lifestyle rather than a once-in-a-month act.
“Tithe is the foundation of your covenant with prosperity,” he said. “Don’t wait till month-end. Any time you earn, return 10% to God immediately.”
The pastor went further to recommend that offerings should ideally be no less than 20% of one’s income, insisting this principle has kept him from poverty.
“In a month, your offering should exceed your tithe. Personally, I don’t give less than 20%. That’s why I’m not broke,” Ibiyeomie declared. “Increase your offering beyond your tithe, and you’ll never be poor.”
However, his statements have drawn criticism on social media, with many accusing him of promoting financial exploitation in the name of faith—particularly amid widespread economic hardship.
One user on X (formerly Twitter), Ikechukwu Seed Mkpulu, reacted sharply:
“Offering 20%, Tithe 10%, Total 30% — So 30% of your hard-earned money must go to Pastor Ibiyeomie’s account if you want to make heaven? Nigerian pastors are worse than the politicians. Tufiakwa.”
The debate continues to stir discussions around giving, religion, and financial responsibility in the Nigerian church landscape.
