Tinubu Fires Warning Shot At Governors: Stop Issuing Land Approvals Or Face RevocationPresident Bola Ahmed Tinubu has issued a stern warning to state governments, particularly the Lagos State Government, declaring that all land approvals granted on federal road setbacks will be revoked.
The President made this announcement on Thursday during the flag-off ceremony for the reconstruction of the Deep Sea Port Access Road, stretching through Epe to Ijebu-Ode.
Emphasizing the importance of coordinated efforts in national infrastructure development, Tinubu urged state governors to work in close alignment with federal authorities.
He said, “Dear governors, let’s collaborate. Do not issue planning approvals without first consulting the Office of the Surveyor General of the Federation and the Federal Ministry of Works regarding federal roads.”
Addressing the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, who was present at the event, Tinubu warned, “Consider this a final notice—any approval granted for structures on federal road setbacks will be revoked. We are serious about this. Also, there will be no tolerance for unauthorized developments on illegally created islands.”
The President’s comments, captured in a broadcast by TVC News, signal a renewed federal clampdown on encroachments that obstruct infrastructure expansion and compromise road safety.
