Nollywood actor and former Labour Party campaign spokesperson, Kenneth Okonkwo, has delivered a scathing critique of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, accusing it of failing to protect Nigerians amid worsening insecurity and economic hardship.

Speaking during an interview with News Central TV, Okonkwo lamented the ongoing killings in Benue, Plateau, and other parts of Nigeria, asserting that the Tinubu-led government has been unable to defend its citizens.

“People are dying not because they committed any crime, but because Tinubu is their President and he cannot defend them,” he stated.

He decried the loss of lives in Benue State—governed by a Reverend Father and member of the APC—noting that despite the state’s political and spiritual alignment, terrorist attacks and killings by armed herders persist without clear solutions in sight.

Okonkwo further criticized the administration’s economic policies, including the removal of fuel subsidy and the floating of the naira, which he said have resulted in widespread hardship.

“Fuel prices jumped from ₦195 to ₦617. The naira depreciated drastically. People are hungry, and the only thing the government keeps saying is ‘be patient,’” he said.
“Praising this government is like dancing on the graves of Nigerians being massacred daily.”

He also condemned the ineffective use of intelligence reports, saying the government focuses more on political security than preventing attacks on citizens.

Okonkwo concluded by saying that no reasonable person should be praising the current administration, emphasizing that security is a basic duty of any government, and in this regard, Tinubu’s government has failed.
