They Tried To Buy Justice — Okpebholo Exposes PDP’s Dirty Secrets After Court WinBenin City, the capital of Edo State, came alive on Friday as Governor Monday Okpebholo, Deputy Governor Hon. Dennis Idahosa, and top leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) led a massive victory march through the city, celebrating their legal win at the Appeal Court.
This jubilant rally followed Thursday’s Court of Appeal verdict, which upheld the earlier ruling by the Edo State Governorship Election Tribunal affirming Okpebholo’s victory in the September 21, 2024 governorship election, as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Thousands of enthusiastic supporters, including market women, youth groups, and APC loyalists, flooded the streets, dancing and chanting in support of the party’s leadership.
Addressing the crowd, Governor Okpebholo described the series of defeats suffered by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)—from the ballot box to the courtroom—as both a divine intervention and a testament to the will of the people.
“We’ve beaten the PDP at the polls, the tribunal, and now at the Appeal Court. We’ll defeat them again at the Supreme Court. Their era in Edo is over,” he proclaimed.
He praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his unwavering support of the state, crediting him for the ongoing developmental progress. Okpebholo also pledged that Edo State would once again rally behind Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.
The governor took a swipe at the opposition, accusing the PDP of trying to influence the judiciary using funds allegedly looted from the state. “They tried to buy justice, but the courts remained resolute and upheld the people’s mandate,” he stated.
Highlighting his administration’s achievements, Okpebholo pointed to infrastructure projects underway, including the construction of Edo State’s first-ever flyover at Ikpoba-Hill in Ikpoba-Okha LGA, with more to follow.
He reaffirmed his commitment to delivering effective governance and continued development across the state.
