Race Against Time! Firefighters Save Elderly Man From Certain Death Inside Ibadan WellA 68-year-old man was successfully rescued from a well by firefighters in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.
The incident occurred early Sunday morning in the Imalenfalafia area of Oke-Ado. Reports indicate that the man accidentally dropped his phone into a deep well located at Mobolorunduro Mosque and became trapped while attempting to retrieve it.
Confirming the incident, the Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, Maroof Akinwande, stated that the distress call was received at exactly 6:10 a.m. on Sunday, June 8, 2025.
Fire service personnel were immediately dispatched to the scene, where they found the elderly man stuck inside the well.
“The man, aged around 68, had gone in alone to recover his phone,” Akinwande explained. “Our team acted swiftly, taking all necessary safety precautions and tying proper knots before carrying out the rescue.”
The man was safely brought out of the well alive and handed over to his family for medical attention and care.
