PDP Sends Powerful Message To Peter Obi: ‘Your Family Awaits YouThe Anambra State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has extended an olive branch to former Governor Peter Obi, urging him to return to the party he once called home.
Peter Obi, who defected to the Labour Party (LP) after his presidential aspirations were unmet in the PDP, is now being courted by his former party amid efforts to rebuild and reposition ahead of upcoming elections.
Following a broad State Executive Committee (SEC) meeting held in Awka to assess the party’s progress and plan for the future, the PDP issued a statement calling on all estranged members—especially Obi—to return.
The communique, signed by Anambra PDP Chairman Chidi Chidebe, cautioned against alliances with ideologically misaligned political groups, warning that such coalitions may fall short of their intended goals.
“The committee extends an open invitation to all aggrieved and former PDP members in Anambra, especially our respected former governor, Mr. Peter Obi, to return and reconnect with the now revitalized and restructured PDP,” Chidebe stated.
“We are ready to welcome our brothers and sisters back to work together toward a better Nigeria.”
Chidebe also called on Anambra voters to throw their support behind the party’s governorship candidate Jude Ezenwafor and his running mate Francis Okeke in the upcoming elections.
He further appealed to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure the elections are free, fair, and credible.
“We urge the great people of Anambra to continue their historic support for the PDP and come out en masse to vote for our candidates,” he added.
Additionally, the meeting resulted in the unanimous selection of Clems Ezike to fill the vacant position of National Ex-Officio from Anambra State.
