Heavenly Order Or Death: Adeboye Shares Fearful Prophecy That Kept Him In RCCGPastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), shared a deeply personal and spiritual revelation, stating that God once told him that if he ever departed from RCCG, his firstborn child would die.

He made the striking statement during the June Holy Ghost Service themed “Destined for Greatness (Part 2)” held at Redemption City in Ogun State.

Addressing the congregation, Pastor Adeboye emphasized the importance of spiritual direction and faithfulness to God’s leading. He expressed concern over how some young Christians hop from one church to another, often identifying themselves as first-time visitors in every new place they attend.

Reflecting on his own early walk with Christ, Adeboye explained that when he gave his life to God, several well-known ministries were already thriving and could have drawn him in. However, God instructed him specifically to remain in RCCG, a modest and relatively unknown church at the time, headquartered in Ebute-Metta, Lagos.

Even though he was a university lecturer, Adeboye said God told him to serve under a spiritual leader who had no formal education—an act of obedience that shaped his life and ministry.

He urged Christians, especially the youth, to stay rooted where God has planted them and to seek divine instruction rather than be driven by excitement or trends.

Clarifying his stance, he said his message wasn’t meant to suggest RCCG’s superiority over other churches.

“When I gave my life to Christ, there were three major ministries that were flourishing. I was tempted to join them. But God made it clear: ‘I brought you here. Stay. If you ever leave, your firstborn will die.’

“I was teaching in a university at the time. My spiritual father hadn’t even gone through formal schooling. But God placed me under him—and I obeyed.

“So, I tell you: find the place God has assigned to you and remain there.”
