“Has Your Life Improved Since Tinubu Took Office? If Not, Try Someone Else” – El-Rufai Tells Nigerians

Published: June 24, 2025

Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has thrown down a bold challenge to Nigerians, questioning the performance of President Bola Tinubu’s administration and urging citizens to consider alternative leadership ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Appearing on Arise Television’s Prime Time Monday evening, El-Rufai declared that President Tinubu has failed Nigerians, citing worsening economic conditions, poor security, and a lack of coherent trade and investment strategies.

“If your life has gotten better since Tinubu was sworn in on May 29, 2023, then fine. But if not, why not give someone else a chance?” El-Rufai said pointedly.

📉 “91% of People in the North and Southeast Disapprove of Tinubu” – El-Rufai

El-Rufai, who recently defected from the APC to the Social Democratic Party (SDP), cited internal polls allegedly showing a staggering 91% disapproval rating for Tinubu in both the northern and southeastern regions. Even in Lagos State, where Tinubu once governed, the disapproval rating reportedly stands at 78%.

“He’s doing slightly better in Ondo and Ekiti, but nowhere is he above 50% approval—even in the Southwest,” El-Rufai claimed.

💸 “There’s Revenue, But No Results”

According to El-Rufai, despite the government generating “lots of revenue,” Nigerians are not seeing any tangible benefits.

“The economy has stopped, the security architecture has failed, and there are no clear policies. Everything is going wrong,” he said, warning that continued complacency will only deepen national hardship.

🗳️ The 2027 Message: Change or Continue?

El-Rufai’s comments come at a time of increasing political realignment, particularly among former APC allies. With dissatisfaction growing across regions, his message to the electorate is clear: 2027 is another chance to reset—but only if voters demand better.

“We must ask ourselves: Do we want more of the same, or are we ready to try something different?” he posed to Nigerians watching nationwide.
