Enough Is Enough! Tinubu Demands End To Police MisconductPresident Bola Ahmed Tinubu has issued a strong reminder to officers of the Nigerian Police Force, emphasizing that their authority must be used to safeguard citizens, not to oppress or intimidate them.

Speaking through Senate President Godswill Akpabio at the 2nd Annual Inspector General of Police’s Award and Commendation Ceremony held in Abuja on Wednesday night, President Tinubu urged law enforcement officers to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and accountability.

“Remember, the power you possess is not meant for intimidation but for protection. It must never be used for abuse, but rather in the service of the people,” Tinubu stated. “You must respect the rule of law, defend citizens’ rights, and reject any form of misconduct or corruption. That is the only path to building a truly respected and trusted police force.”

The President assured the officers that his administration remains committed to reforming and strengthening the Nigeria Police Force. According to him, this includes investments in modern equipment, technology, training, and improved welfare to enhance operational efficiency and morale.

“We understand that modern policing requires modern tools, intelligence-driven strategies, and strong community engagement,” he said. “This government is dedicated to providing these resources.”

He also commended the award recipients of the evening for their exemplary service.

“Congratulations to all honourees. Your dedication and discipline serve as a beacon of hope and pride for our nation,” he said. “Let this recognition motivate you to reach even greater heights and inspire others in the Force to follow your example.”

President Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s ongoing support for the Nigeria Police and called on all officers, regardless of rank or duty post, to remain faithful to their oath and the trust reposed in them by the Nigerian people.
