Drama In Abuja! Wike Breaks Protocol To Hug Schoolchildren Amid Fresh PDP Expulsion ThreatsIn a heartwarming moment, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, stepped out of formal protocol on Thursday to engage with a group of schoolchildren in Abuja. The children, who had gathered near a road project site, were visibly excited to see the Minister. In response, Wike walked over, shook their hands, and posed for photographs.

Speaking to journalists shortly afterward, Wike expressed his satisfaction with the public response to infrastructural improvements in the capital city.

“We are very, very happy that the people of Abuja are happy. You can see the joy of the children. They’re feeling the impact of the Renewed Hope Agenda,” he said.

Since assuming office, Wike has focused on revitalizing the Abuja Master Plan and undertaking various road and bridge construction projects across the city.

However, political tensions continue to simmer within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) regarding Wike’s role and allegiance. Tom FredFish, a notable PDP figure from Akwa Ibom State and Chairman of the PDP Advocate for Peace and Justice (PAPAJ), has renewed his call for the party to expel Wike. Speaking to journalists in Uyo, FredFish alleged that Wike was “appointed to destroy the PDP from within.”

His comments come in reaction to Wike’s previous assertion that no one within the party has the authority to remove him.

“If Wike claims he’s working for the party, then Nigerians need to ask: what kind of work? Is it positive or negative?” FredFish queried.

FredFish further accused Wike of undermining the PDP after failing to secure the party’s presidential ticket in 2023. He referenced Wike’s alleged support for members of the Rivers State House of Assembly who defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), despite Rivers State being governed by the PDP.

“No one has done more to de-market the PDP than Wike. He continues to use derogatory language against the party and its leaders — including his recent remarks about Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde,” FredFish added.

The PAPAJ Chairman urged the PDP Board of Trustees, including prominent party leaders such as Senator Adolphus Wabara, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, and former Senate President David Mark, to activate sections 10(6), 57, and 58 of the PDP Constitution (as amended in 2017), leading to Wike’s expulsion under Section 59.
