Deadly Cult Networks Crippled: Edo Police Launch Fierce Assault On Criminal HideoutsThe Edo State Police Command has apprehended 28 suspected cultists during a thorough house-to-house operation in Benin City.

Moses Yamu, the Public Relations Officer of the Command, revealed this in a statement released to journalists on Friday in Benin City.

Yamu explained that following professional screening, 19 of the suspects were formally charged and taken to court.

He added that the raid on criminal hideouts is part of the Command’s ongoing efforts to combat crime through increased visibility policing and active community involvement.

In its renewed campaign against cultism, the Command has initiated house-to-house arrests targeting known cult members across the state to either eradicate or drastically reduce cult-related activities.

The operation took place on June 4, 2025, between 4 p.m. and 10 p.m.

The Command’s spokesperson further disclosed that three of the suspects admitted membership in the Eiye and Aye confraternities.

Those arrested have since been arraigned in court.

Yamu also issued a stern warning to all cult members in Edo State to renounce cultism and reform, relocate from the state, or face severe legal consequences under the Edo State Secret Cult and Other Related Activities (Prohibition) Law.
