Breaking: President Tinubu Lands In Kaduna Amid Heavy Security, Set To Commission Major Projects

Published: Thursday, June 19, 2025

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially arrived in Kaduna State for the second leg of his high-profile three-state working tour, as part of a push to spotlight and commission transformative development projects across Nigeria.

Touching down aboard a Boeing 737 jet at Mando Military Airport at exactly 1:27 p.m., the President was welcomed under tight security and fanfare by a powerful delegation of political leaders and traditional rulers.

🚨 Tight Security, Traffic Diversions Lock Down Kaduna

Ahead of Tinubu’s visit, Kaduna was placed on security lockdown, with major roads—including Kawo Bridge and Independence Way—shut down between 6 a.m. and 4 p.m. to ensure safe passage for the presidential convoy. Armed personnel were deployed across key areas as part of precautionary measures.

🎖️ Who Welcomed the President?

Among the heavyweights present at the airport were:

  • Tajudeen Abbas, Speaker of the House of Representatives

  • Barau Jibrin, Deputy Senate President

  • Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State

  • Emir of Zazzau, Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli

  • A dozen governors including Sanwo-Olu, Uzodimma, Oyebanji, and AbdulRazaq

  • SGF George Akume and other dignitaries

The President was greeted with a full military guard of honour, as the Nigerian Air Force band provided ceremonial music.

🏗️ Projects to Be Commissioned Today

During his one-day visit, President Tinubu is expected to commission key infrastructural and social investment projects, including:

  • 🛠️ Institute of Skill Acquisition and Development, Riga Chukun

  • 🏥 300-Bed Specialist Hospital, Millennium City

  • 🚌 100 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Buses to improve Kaduna’s intra-city transport system

He will also be the guest of honour at a grand civic reception at Murtala Square, hosted by the Kaduna State Government.

🇳🇬 Tour Continues After Emotional Benue Visit

This visit follows Tinubu’s emotional stop in Benue State, where he met with victims of the recent wave of attacks that left around 200 people dead and thousands displaced. His Kaduna stop was delayed by 24 hours to accommodate the Benue visit.

Next up on the President’s itinerary: Nasarawa State, where he is expected to conclude the final leg of his development tour in the coming days.

🧠 Final Thought

President Tinubu’s Kaduna visit underscores a bold attempt to showcase progress and engage with the states through visible, high-impact projects. But with tight security, heightened public scrutiny, and rising expectations, every stop is more than ceremonial — it’s political theatre with real stakes.
