Barau, Kano APC Supporters Endorse President Tinubu’s Second-Term Bid

Published on June 3, 2025

Senate Deputy President Senator Barau Jibrin and a large number of All Progressives Congress (APC) supporters in Kano North Senatorial District have publicly endorsed President Bola Tinubu for a second term in office.

The endorsement was announced on Tuesday during the official inauguration of the Federal Polytechnic, Kabo, which has now been upgraded to the Federal University of Science and Technology, Kabo, following Tinubu’s approval. The transformation of the institution came after a direct request from Senator Barau.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony in Kabo Local Government Area, Senator Barau praised the President’s unwavering commitment to educational development and inclusive governance.

“We told Mr. President that our priority was to upgrade the Federal Polytechnic to a university. He simply said, ‘Bring it, I will sign it,’ and he signed it,” Barau remarked.

He also revealed that Tinubu approved the establishment of a new Federal Polytechnic in the area — a move that further demonstrates the President’s dedication to educational investment in Northern Nigeria.

Barau pointed to Tinubu’s consistent backing for major regional projects, including the reversal of an earlier decision that halted the upgrade of Yusuf Maitama Sule University to a federal institution.

“Every request we have taken to him, he has approved. That is the true mark of a responsive leader,” he added.

Minister of State for Housing, Alhaji Yusuf Ata, also addressed the gathering, commending Tinubu’s administration for bridging regional development gaps and expanding access to quality education.

The well-attended event was seen as a significant moment in the federal government’s ongoing support for education and infrastructure in Kano State, and it served as a strong public endorsement of Tinubu’s leadership by key Northern political stakeholders.
