Kindly share this story:

Kenya’s President William Ruto has humorously voiced concern about the rising number of Nigerian men marrying Kenyan women—especially after his two daughters both married Nigerians. Speaking at a recent wedding, Ruto joked that Kenyan men might be falling behind in the romance department and urged them to step up before it leads to a “brain drain” in the country.

Captured in a video shared by Africa Facts Zone on X, the president’s playful remarks struck a chord as he addressed the growing trend.

“My daughter is married to a Nigerian, and this one is now married to a Nigerian. And our guys around; I don’t know, are you slow? I don’t know. We need to balance this scale because at this rate, we are going to have a brain drain from Kenya,” Ruto quipped, drawing laughter and attention.

Beyond the humor, Ruto acknowledged the strong friendship and cultural ties between Kenya and Nigeria, encouraging both countries to deepen their relationship.

“I think there is something special between Kenya and Nigeria; we should pick it up further,” he added.

This lighthearted yet pointed message has sparked conversations on cross-cultural marriages and the evolving dynamics between the two African nations.
