Trump Says Musk Can Never Be President as Their Feud Boils Over
The bitter rift between billionaire tech mogul Elon Musk and former U.S. President Donald Trump escalated on Thursday after Musk delivered a scathing reply to Trump’s critique of his stance on the controversial “Big Beautiful Bill.”
According to Naija News, Musk recently resigned from his role as head of the Department Of Government Efficiency (DOGE) under the Trump administration.
Musk Fires Back: “Such Ingratitude”
Using his social media platform, X, Musk fired back:
“Without me, Trump would have lost the election, Dems would control the House, and the Republicans would be 51-49 in the Senate. Such ingratitude.”
This statement came in response to Trump’s accusation that Musk was being disingenuous in opposing the bill, which Trump claims Musk fully supported.
Trump: “He Was Fully Aware”
Speaking from the Oval Office, Trump expressed disappointment over Musk’s public reversal.
“Elon knew the inner workings of this bill better than almost anybody. He had no issue with it. Now suddenly he’s upset—only after we decided to scale back the EV mandate,” Trump said.
Musk Denies Involvement: “Rushed Through in the Dead of Night”
Musk disputed Trump’s claims, asserting that he was kept in the dark during the bill’s final stages.
“This bill was never shown to me even once and was passed in the dead of night so fast that almost no one in Congress could even read it,” Musk posted.
The latest spat highlights the deepening divide between two of the most influential figures in conservative politics and American industry. While Musk has aligned with some Republican ideals, his vocal opposition to certain legislative decisions—especially on electric vehicle policy—has placed him at odds with Trump’s camp.
