ICC Won’t Be Handed To Politicians, Set For Commissioning Tomorrow – WikeMinister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has stated that the newly renovated International Conference Centre (ICC) in Abuja will not be placed under the management of politicians following its official commissioning on Tuesday, June 10, 2025.

Speaking during an inspection of the ICC and other projects slated for commissioning, Wike reassured the public that the facility would be professionally managed and maintained.

He confirmed that Julius Berger, the construction firm responsible for the renovation, will oversee the maintenance of the facility. Wike emphasized that the trained Nigerian staff already familiar with the new technological installations will operate the centre efficiently.

“We will not hand over the centre to any politician,” he said. “Julius Berger will maintain it, and our Nigerian staff, trained and supervised by us, will handle the operations. The technology isn’t complex, and everything will be up and running after the commissioning.”

Wike had previously shut down the ICC in April 2024 due to mismanagement, resulting in the cancellation of all scheduled events at the time.

In addition to the ICC, several other infrastructure projects—including roads, bridges, and various facilities—constructed under Wike’s leadership will be officially commissioned by President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima beginning June 10
