Game Changer: Umo Eno Defects To APC As Top Governors Storm Akwa Ibom In Political EarthquakeGovernor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The announcement was made on Friday in Uyo, the state capital, marking a major political shift in the South-South region.
This move follows recent remarks by Governor Eno during a town hall meeting in Ikot Abasi, where he hinted at the impending transition, stating, “It is time to move,” signaling his intention to align Akwa Ibom with the APC-led federal government.
According to sources close to the governor, the defection came after thorough consultations with stakeholders across the political spectrum.
In a show of solidarity, several APC governors traveled to Akwa Ibom to welcome Eno into the party. Those in attendance included the Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum and Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma; Cross River State Governor, Bassey Otu; Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu; and Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun.
Also present were Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State, Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State, and Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State.
Governor Eno’s defection is expected to reshape the political dynamics in Akwa Ibom ahead of future elections.
