Ebonyi: Man Arrested For Allegedly Killing Neighbour With Shovel

The Ebonyi State Police Command has arrested one Ezeoke Chidera, a resident of Egugho Ezzagu in Ishielu Local Government Area, over the alleged murder of a female neighbour, identified as Mrs. Awoke Rose, a woman in her 60s.
According to a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Joshua Ukandu, the tragic incident occurred on June 2, 2025, at around 6:00 a.m.
The statement revealed that Chidera, who resided in the same compound as the deceased, allegedly attacked Mrs. Rose using a shovel, striking her multiple times and leaving her in a pool of blood.
“On 02/06/2025 at about 0600hrs, we received a report that one Ezeoke Chidera, who lives in the same compound with Mrs. Awoke Rose, aged about 60 years, at Egugho Ezzagu in Ishielu LGA, attacked her by hitting her several times with a shovel and abandoned her in a pool of her blood,” the PPRO stated.
Ukandu confirmed that the suspect has been apprehended, and the police have launched a full investigation to determine the motive behind the violent attack.
The Command assured the public that justice will be served and urged residents to remain calm as the investigation continues.
