The Osun State Amotekun Corps has fiercely debunked circulating reports alleging that its officers carried out mass arrests targeting members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and traditional chiefs in Itapa, Atakumosa East Local Government Area.

Describing the claims as “deceptive, unfounded, and dangerously misleading,” the Corps, in a statement signed by its Public Relations Officer, Yusuf Abass, clarified that no such arrests ever took place.

According to Naija News, the security outfit emphasized that the publication appears to be a deliberate attempt to drag the Amotekun Corps into political controversy, eroding trust in its impartial operations.

“No Amotekun officer has arrested any APC member or community chief in Itapa or anywhere in Atakumosa East. This story is completely false and aimed at tarnishing our image,” the statement read.

The Corps warned that politicizing security issues for sensational headlines or partisan gain can incite needless panic and division in local communities.

“We urge the public to disregard this report entirely. Osun Amotekun serves all citizens equally—regardless of party or background,” Abass stated, urging journalists to verify stories before going to press.

Amotekun’s rebuttal stands as a firm rejection of what it describes as “calculated misinformation,” reaffirming its commitment to professionalism and nonpartisan security service in the state.
