Upon taking the reins, Governor Lawal launched a bold and comprehensive agenda aimed at turning around Zamfara’s fortunes. Determined to change the negative narrative often associated with the state, he set out to restore security, rebuild infrastructure, and strengthen public institutions.
From the outset, Lawal identified security as the bedrock of sustainable development. He took decisive steps to tackle the rampant banditry and lawlessness that had driven fear and instability across communities. One of his major initiatives was the creation of the Zamfara State Security Trust Fund, chaired by former Inspector General of Police MD Abubakar. Through strategic collaboration with the Federal Government and other stakeholders, the state has recorded a noticeable decline in insecurity.
The impact of Lawal’s governance extends beyond security. In less than two years, he has rolled out major infrastructural projects—from rehabilitating key roads such as the Freedom Square–Nasiha Chemist axis to installing modern street lighting systems that promote safety and social interaction.
Agriculture, a backbone of Zamfara’s economy, has also received a significant boost. The governor has empowered farmers by providing them with access to high-quality seeds, fertilizers, and modern equipment, laying the groundwork for increased productivity and food security.
With a clear vision and relentless drive, Governor Dauda Lawal is not just managing a state—he is rewriting its story, steering Zamfara towards stability, prosperity, and a promising future.
