Tension Rises In Osun APC Over Tinubu’s Growing Ties With Governor Adeleke
The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is in turmoil following President Bola Tinubu’s increasing association with opposition Governor Ademola Adeleke. The perceived support for Adeleke has unsettled APC loyalists, especially supporters of former governor Gboyega Oyetola, ahead of the crucial 2026 governorship election.
The tension escalated after Adeleke, his billionaire brother Adefeji, and musician nephew Davido visited Tinubu on June 3. Additionally, Tinubu’s Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila recently met Adeleke at the Osun Government House, sparking rumors of political realignment.
APC leaders, including former Speaker Timothy Owoeye and party spokesperson Kola Olabisi, rejected any attempt by Adeleke to join APC, accusing him of political desperation. Meanwhile, the Osun PDP dismissed APC’s claims as “childish,” emphasizing that governance transcends party lines.
A senior APC source expressed mistrust of Tinubu’s strategy, fearing a repeat of the political dynamics seen in Oyo State. The Osun governorship election is scheduled for August 6, 2026.
