“Fuel Prices Set To Drop!” – IPMAN Reveals Dangote’s Bold Move To Deliver Petrol, Diesel Nationwide For Free

Published on Friday, June 20, 2025

“Dangote is lifting a heavy burden off marketers — this changes everything.” — IPMAN

In what could become a game-changer for Nigeria’s petroleum industry, the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has thrown its full support behind the Dangote Refinery’s groundbreaking plan to distribute petrol and diesel across the country at no delivery cost.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily, IPMAN’s National Publicity Secretary, Chinedu Ukadike, praised Aliko Dangote for taking decisive action to address long-standing inefficiencies in the nation’s fuel distribution network.

“This is going to bring fuel cheaper to our doorsteps,” Ukadike said, calling the initiative a “strong policy statement” from Dangote that directly tackles industry challenges.

🔥 What’s Happening?

Dangote Refinery announced on Sunday that it will begin free distribution of petrol and diesel to marketers nationwide starting August 15, 2025. The company has already acquired 4,000 brand-new CNG-powered tankers to power this ambitious rollout.

This means:

  • No more costly fuel haulage from coastal tank farms

  • Reduced dependence on Nigeria’s long-neglected pipeline infrastructure

  • Lower retail prices for consumers

💬 IPMAN Reacts: “This is a Relief”

Ukadike emphasized that the move removes significant logistical costs currently borne by independent marketers.

“Our pipelines have been dormant for years, forcing us to move products from seaports at great cost. What Dangote is doing takes that burden off our shoulders,” he said.

⚠️ Not Everyone Is Happy

Despite IPMAN’s endorsement, some stakeholders aren’t thrilled. The Petroleum Products Retail Outlets Owners Association of Nigeria (PETROAN) voiced concerns that the plan could undermine existing supply agreements, particularly those between depot owners and large corporations.

Still, IPMAN dismissed the criticism, arguing that as a refinery, Dangote has every right to choose the most efficient and affordable delivery model for his products.

“The goal is cheaper, more accessible fuel. That’s what matters,” Ukadike stressed.

🛢️ Bottom Line:

With August 15 approaching, all eyes are on the Dangote Refinery to see if this unprecedented logistics overhaul will deliver on its promise: lower fuel prices and smoother distribution.

Will this mark the beginning of a new era in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector? Only time—and the road ahead—will tell.
