Explosive Exit: Tinubu’s Spokesman Resigns, Warns Of Looming Political Tyranny!Aliyu Audu, the Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Public Affairs, has tendered his resignation, citing growing fears that the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led federal government is steering Nigeria toward a one-party state.

In his resignation letter dated June 8, 2025, and submitted through the Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, Audu emphasized that his decision was rooted in principle—not rebellion.

“Although I am not aligned with the PDP, I refuse to be used, directly or indirectly, to undermine Nigeria’s multi-party democracy. That would betray both divine favor and democratic integrity,” he stated.

Audu warned that suppressing opposition voices for political dominance echoes the authoritarian tendencies seen during former President Obasanjo’s administration in 2003. He called such tactics not only politically dangerous but spiritually harmful.

Once a vocal supporter of President Tinubu, Audu criticized recent political maneuvers within the APC, describing them as regressive and contrary to democratic values. He stressed the importance of ideological diversity, arguing that democracy flourishes through competition—not monopoly.

“God permits both belief and disbelief to coexist. So why should we, as mere mortals, fear opposing political ideologies?” he asked rhetorically.

While backing Tinubu’s economic reforms, Audu openly disagreed with what he described as an “unholy alliance” between Tinubu and Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike. He said this partnership reflects a departure from the progressive values he stands for.

“I remain a progressive and champion of democracy. But the direction we are heading politically is worrying,” Audu noted, concluding with a satirical jab, acknowledging the inevitable backlash from party loyalists.
