Some APC lawmakers in the House of Representatives say they are unshaken by the party’s decision to deny automatic return tickets ahead of the 2027 elections, choosing instead to face the primaries.
This comes after APC spokesperson Felix Morka dismissed reports of guaranteed tickets for National Assembly members as “fake news.”
Key Reactions:
-
Hon. Kolawole Akinlayo (Ido/Osi/Ilejeme, Ekiti State) said, “I will definitely go for a second term. It’s a must.”
-
Another lawmaker (anonymous) said:
“Lawmakers are like wine – the older, the better… An automatic ticket doesn’t equal re-election success. Let’s prioritize institutional memory for national progress.”
While they accept that party primaries are part of democracy, lawmakers urge the APC to recognize the value of legislative experience and avoid excessive turnover, which plagued the current 10th Assembly.
